Finally Lewisham Council have done good

Earlier on this year I complained to Heidi Alexander about the Housing and planning bill and in particular suggested that the Council could use Y Housing as a solution to providing quick, easy and cost-effective housing for families on the housing list stuck in B & B’s waiting for suitable housing:

We need to build more social housing urgently – it has taken a year and
a half for the old swimming pool site next to the Fire station in
Central Lewisham for any evidence of anything happening there.  Why
aren’t the council considering YHousing Units (which can be built
within a few months to get some of the hundreds of our families who are
living in B & B’s into proper homes:

And they have done it – the new housing is colourful and well constructed and cheap to heat:
